Our Story
We open our doors in the spring with beautiful hanging baskets, color bowls, herbs, veggie starts and berry starts. Our shelves are filled with our much sought after jams and syrups as well as local honey, pickles, pepper jellies, mustards and more.
Greens Bridge Gardens was established in 2003 by owners, Jason and Julie Laube. Greens Bridge Gardens is a seasonal produce stand, open primarily from May through November (Jason is pushing to make it to December!!!)
Mid to late May we cross our fingers and hope for the start of strawberry season. It’s always a great feeling to get some fresh produce!!! The strawberries are followed by fresh lettuce, broccoli, kohlrabi…. and then we know…. the season is upon us!!! There is so much more to come (too much to list)…. rasp, blue, boysen, logan and marionberries, peaches and apples. Gotta love all those fresh veggies… corn, summer squashes, cauliflower, cabbage, beets, cucumbers, eggplant, tomatoes, hot peppers… endless list!!!
One of our favorite features at Greens Bridge Gardens is our u-pick. There is nothing more enjoyable than watching the young ones come in with berry juice all over their mouths and clothes. (okay, so the Moms may not enjoy the stains.. but we love the experience they get to have). We have our regular pickers, those who come every few days with their bowl (the bowl our staff recognize year after year) – just enough for a day or two. And then there are those who come for their annual strawberry pick, with buckets and bowls and boxes to fill!!! U-pick is usually available on all of the berries, peaches (if we have a crop!), apples (if we have a crop), tomatoes and peppers. U-pick has to be one of our favorites:)
We are not limited to our home stand in Jefferson. We are currently attending seven farmers markets – Beaverton our 28th year (Saturdays and Wednesdays), Lake Oswego our 11th year, Moreland our 11th year, Lebanon our 8th year, the Salem Hospital our 4th year and Lincoln City our 3rd year. In 2011 we set up a 20 x 20 tent on S Commercial in Salem, which we staff daily from June through September.
Jason has networked with local fruit stands, wholesaling many of our products to them. Prior to venturing out on his own and starting up Greens Bridge Gardens, Jason worked many summers for his parents at their fruit stand of nearly 20 years in Dayton.
So we know not everyone is interested in fresh produce, but they are interested in our pumpkins every October!!! The month of October is hopping with pumpkins, Papa’s hay wagon ride, hay mazes, a corn maze, slides, a petting zoo and some good old fashion farm fun!! Don’t forget the fresh squeezed apple cider!!
In the “off” season (hah! is there one??) we have 4 full time employees. In the busy summer months we may employee up to 30 staff at a time.
We love what we do and are so grateful to our families and friends for their support and many, many (did I mention MANY..) hours of volunteering to help us.
