Our Story
Started in September 2019, Madhouse Coffee Company was born. This unique coffee shop was 6 months in the making between 20 year old Alisha Heilman and her father, Eric.
Alisha is currently going to WSUV for her Bachelor’s in English, coaching dance for Camas High School, dancing herself on a company in Portland called RogueSocietyPDX and now also running the Madhouse! So don’t mind too much when she has a million books on the counter or she’s typing away at something – it’s probably a paper that she has due that week!
There really is nothing special to our story, in fact it was very organic and spur of the moment. So much so that when Alisha had left her job with Black Rock Coffee Bar at the beginning of 2019, her father came in the next day and said “Hey, why don’t we just open our own coffee shop?” and it all flowed from there.
Pulling from the natural colorfulness and theme behind Alice in Wonderland, it was decided that this would be a perfect vehicle to transform a space into something more than simply a typical Vancouver coffee shop. Combining the nostalgia of the movie from both old and younger generations, it also gave a natural sense of comfort knowing that ‘We are all a little mad here’ so you can be too 🙂
As a company we hope to blossom and promote inclusiveness within the community by providing a safe space for anyone to come and hang out, study, or do whatever makes you happy. Here at Madhouse we support the art of making mistakes and learning from them.
So while we don’t expect anything from our community but simply love and unwavering support. We also hope that our customers can help us in making us the best we can be with exciting event ideas, drinks, and compassion for the staff and others. This is a family-owned business, and we want our customers to feel that way as they begin to come back time and time again. So come on down the rabbit hole, and we hope to see you at the Tea Party soon!
